DarkStar is a game that combines character development and puzzle-solving. As a development game, players need to cultivate and manage one or more designated objects in the game to make them stronger. Therefore, we need to approach the topic of becoming stronger from multiple perspectives.

1. Acquiring and Upgrading Equipment

Let’s start with equipment. Equipment consists of six components: ship cannons, fire control, chips, armor, shock absorbers, and engines. Among these six components, ship cannons, fire control, and chips increase attack power, while armor, shock absorbers, and engines increase survivability. Each component has five types of equipment: Common, Fine, Excellent, Outstanding, and S-Class Outstanding. Without a doubt, S-Class Outstanding is currently the top tier (T0). Whether you’re a free-to-play player or a paying player, the final weapon is always the S-Class Outstanding.

Equipment Interface

To become stronger through equipment, the first thing we need to do is acquire high-quality, high-level equipment, and then upgrade it. If you don’t have high-quality, high-level equipment, then upgrade the best equipment you currently have. Upgrading equipment requires two important materials: gold and blueprints. Both of these items can be obtained through automatic cruising, exploration, and battles, so it’s relatively easy to acquire them.

Not only can we upgrade the component level, but we can also enhance the component’s attributes. When we have three components of the same type and level, we can synthesize them to obtain a higher-level component. However, this synthesis method is only applicable to components with outstanding quality or lower.

Low-Tier Quality Synthesis

The synthesis method for high-quality and low-quality components is slightly different. To upgrade an I-level Outstanding quality equipment to a II-level Outstanding quality equipment, one random Outstanding quality component is required. To upgrade a II-level Outstanding quality equipment to a III-level Outstanding quality equipment, two random Outstanding quality components are needed. To upgrade a III-level Outstanding quality equipment to Epic quality, one random III-level Outstanding quality equipment is required. To upgrade from Epic quality to the highest quality, one random Epic quality equipment is needed, and all upgrades require components with the same attributes.

High-tier Quality Synthesis

1.1 Ship Cannons

In DarkStars, there are five types of ship cannons: Rapid-fire Cannon, Prism Cannon, Rocket Cannon, Boomerang Cannon, and Lightning Whip Cannon. Among them, Boomerang Cannon and Lightning Whip Cannon are S-Class equipment.

(1) Boomerang-Cannon

The Boomerang Cannon primarily fires in close range. As the name suggests, after being fired in one direction, it returns from the same direction. Being an S-Class weapon, it not only deals high damage, but also has penetration and a very long attack range. It is ideal for breaking through encirclements, and is also very convenient for fighting bosses. The attack direction can be locked onto enemies.

(2) Lightning Whip-Cannon

Before reaching max level, the Lightning Whip Cannon only fires a single lightning bolt, prioritizing attacks on nearby enemies. After reaching max level, it splits into three lightning bolts, dealing massive damage. However, when there are many enemies, it will randomly target them. It is very convenient for boss fights. When the attack target is locked, the Lightning Whip Cannon will lock onto the enemy’s position for its attack direction.

(3) Rapid-fire Cannon

The Rapid-fire Cannon has a fixed attack direction and can only fire towards the front of the ship. However, it deals high damage and has penetration, making it suitable for breaking through encirclements. It is not ideal for boss fights, as the attack direction is difficult to adjust.

(4) Prism Cannon

The Prism Cannon fires in the form of a laser and rotates to protect the ship, but it doesn’t last indefinitely and has a cooldown period. It has penetration and the damage is spread out, making it ideal for fighting minions. It is not very effective against bosses, as it requires a slow process to chip away at the boss’s health.

(5) Rocket Cannon

After firing a missile, the Rocket Cannon locks onto the enemy, concentrating on the attack and dealing high damage. It is particularly suitable for fighting bosses.

1.2 Fire Control

In DarkStars, there are five types of fire control: Mistertin Fire Control, Galal Fire Control, Gecapnir Fire Control, Thyrfon Fire Control, and Mjolnir Fire Control. Among them, Thyrfon Fire Control and Mjolnir Fire Control are S-Class equipment.

(1) Tyr’s Fire Control

Tyr’s Fire Control mainly assists the Boomerang Cannon. As we can see in the image below, the Tyr’s Fire Control skill increases attack damage based on the enemy’s health. When Tyr’s Fire Control is of Fine quality, the higher the enemy’s health, the higher the damage we deal. At Excellent quality, attack damage increases by 15%. At Outstanding quality, the damage to full-health enemies increases by 10%. At Epic quality, attack damage increases by 25%. At the highest quality, all tech module effects in battle increase by 15%. This can be considered a very powerful effect.

(2) Thor’s Hammer Fire Control

Thor’s Hammer Fire Control primarily assists the Boomerang Cannon. As shown in the image below, the Thor’s Hammer Fire Control skill requires at least Excellent quality to see an attribute increase, which reflects the power of Mjolnir. When Thor’s Hammer Fire Control is at Excellent quality, attack power increases by 10%. At Outstanding quality, each kill of a Boss or Elite Monster grants a Berserk effect, increasing all damage by 10%. However, the Berserk effect is removed when the player is attacked. At Epic quality, the Berserk effect increases to 20%. At the highest quality, attack power increases by 25%.

Mimir Fire Control primarily assists the Rapid Fire Cannon. As shown in the image below, the Mimir Fire Control skill requires at least Excellent quality to see an attribute increase. When Mimir Fire Control is at Excellent quality, attack power increases by 10%. At Outstanding quality, for every 200 monsters killed, the attack interval is reduced by 2%, with a maximum of a 10% reduction. At Epic quality, the attack interval reduction increases to 20%. At the highest quality, attack power increases by 15%.

GjallarHorn Fire Control primarily assists the Prism Cannon. As shown in the image below, the GjallarHorn Fire Control skill requires at least Excellent quality to see an attribute increase. When GjallarHorn Fire Control is at Excellent quality, attack power increases by 10%. At Outstanding quality, additional damage is dealt to full-health enemies. At Epic quality, the higher the enemy’s health, the higher the damage dealt. At the highest quality, attack power increases by 15%.

Grid’s Staff Chip primarily assists the Rocket Launcher. As shown in the image below, the Grid’s Staff Chip skill requires at least Excellent quality to see an attribute increase. When Grid’s Staff Chip is at Excellent quality, attack power increases by 10%. At Outstanding quality, the ship’s damage against Elite enemies and Bosses increases by 15%. At Epic quality, the damage against Elite enemies and Bosses increases by 30%. At the highest quality, attack power increases by 15%. If a boss at a certain stage is exceptionally strong, the Grid’s Staff Chip is a very good choice.

1.3 Chips

In DarkStars, there are five types of chips: Mimir, GjallarHorn, Grid’s Staff, Tyr’s Valor, and Thor’s Hammer. Among them, Tyr’s Valor and Thor’s Hammer are S-Class equipment.

(1) Tyr’s Valor Chip

The Tyr’s Valor Chip primarily assists the Boomerang Cannon. As shown in the image below, the skill of the Tyr’s Valor Chip provides different effects based on its quality. At Fine quality, when the ship’s health is above 50%, attack power increases by 10%. At Excellent quality, attack damage increases by 15%. At Outstanding quality, there is a 10% chance of critical hits. At Epic quality, attack damage increases by 25%. At the highest quality, critical hit damage increases by 100%.

The Thor’s Hammer Chip primarily assists the Lightning Whip Cannon. As shown in the image below, the skill of the Thor’s Hammer Chip requires at least Excellent quality to see an attribute increase. 1.4 Armor

In DarkStars, there are five types of Armor: Mimir Armor, GjallarHorn Armor, Grid’s Staff Armor, Tyr’s Valor Armor, and Thor’s Hammer Armor, with Tyr’s Valor Armor and Thor’s Hammer Armor being S-tier equipment.

(1) Tyr’s Valor Armor

Tyr’s Valor Armor primarily assists the Boomerang Cannon. As shown in the image below, the skill of Tyr’s Valor Armor works as follows: when Tyr’s Valor Armor is at Excellent quality, the battleship gains a 30% increase in movement speed after killing 200 enemies, with the effect lasting for five seconds. At Outstanding quality, vitality increases by 15%. At Exceptional quality, the battleship can revive with full health once. At Epic quality, vitality increases by 25%. At the highest quality, after revival, both attack power and movement speed are increased by 15%.

If you don’t have access to S-tier equipment, Mimir Armor is a great alternative, as upgrading its quality is easier than that of Thor’s Hammer Armor.

In DarkStar, there are five types of dampers: Mimir, GjallarHorn, Grid’s Staff, Tyr’s Valor, and Thor’s Hammer. Among them, Tyr’s Valor and Thor’s Hammer are S-grade equipment.

(1) Tyr’s Valor Damper

Tyr’s Valor Damper is mainly used to assist the Boomerang-Cannon. As shown in the figure below, we can observe the skill of Tyr’s Valor Damper. When Tyr’s Valor Damper is of fine quality, all healing effects are increased by 20%. When it is of excellent quality, health is increased by 15%. At outstanding quality, when attacked, it triggers a 2-second invincibility effect, with a cooldown time of 1 minute. At the epic quality, health increases by 25%. At the highest quality, while in the invincible state, attack power is increased by 50%, lasting for 3 seconds.

Thor’s Hammer — Damper is mainly used to assist the Lightning Whip. As shown in the image below, we can see the skills of Thor’s Hammer — Damper. To gain attribute boosts, Thor’s Hammer — Damper requires at least Excellent quality. When Thor’s Hammer — Damper is of Excellent quality, health increases by 10%. At Outstanding quality, for every 200 enemies killed, cooldown time is reduced by 2%, with a maximum reduction of 10%. At Epic quality, for every 200 enemies killed, cooldown time is reduced by 2%, with a maximum reduction of 20%. At the highest quality, health increases by 15%.

Mimir-Damper is mainly used to assist the Rate-of-Fire Cannon. As shown in the image, Mimir-Damper’s skill indicates that the minimum attribute increase for Mimir-Damper is Excellent quality. When Mimir-Damper is Excellent quality, health increases by 10%. At Outstanding quality, each time 200 enemies are killed, one damage instance can be blocked. At Epic quality, the damage blocking effect becomes 1 second of invincibility. At maximum quality, health increases by 15%.

Galadriel-Damper primarily supports the Prism Assister. As shown in the image below, the skills of Galadriel-Damper are displayed. To gain attribute improvements, the minimum quality required for Galadriel-Damper is Excellent. When Galadriel-Damper is of Excellent quality, health increases by 10%. At Exceptional quality, taking damage triggers a 2-second invincibility effect with a 1-minute cooldown. At Epic quality, the invincibility effect increases attack power by 50% for 3 seconds. Grid’s Staff-damper is primarily used to assist with rocket launcher. As shown in the image, the skill of Grid’s Staff-damper provides the following attributes. To gain attribute improvements, the minimum quality must be Excellent. When Grid’s Staff-damper is Excellent quality, health increases by 10%. At the Outstanding quality, defeating elites or Bosses grants a Berserk effect and provides a shield. At Epic quality, when the shield is triggered, the player enters the Dominican state for five seconds, increasing both attack damage and movement speed by 100%. At Excellent quality, health increases by 15%. At Outstanding quality, a fiery trail effect is left behind on the path traveled, which is both visually stunning and damaging. At Epic quality, health increases by 25%. At the highest quality, the damage of the fiery trail doubles.

Players can choose and match components based on their own interests and preferences, but only the compatible components can unleash the full potential of the equipment. Therefore, players need to be cautious when making their selections.

2. How to Obtain Equipment

In DarkStars, the majority of equipment is obtained by purchasing chests. There are three types of chests: the Army Crate, EDF Supplies, and Galaxy Hunter Treasure Chest.

(1) Army Crate

The Army Crate can be opened with 100 diamonds per attempt. It contains both Common and Fine-quality equipment. The chance of receiving Common equipment is as high as 65.0%, while Fine-quality equipment has a 35.0% chance. It’s recommended not to purchase Army Crates with diamonds, as Common and Fine-quality equipment are only useful in the early stages, and have little value in the later stages. Additionally, Army Crates can be obtained through the Newcomer’s Seven-Day Pack, daily tasks, weekly tasks, and events, so be cautious when purchasing. Furthermore, during the first seven days of the server, there will be a “Server Opening 7-days Challenge.” If you complete it successfully, you can receive two S-grade equipment.

(2) EDF Supplies

The EDF Supplies chest can only be opened using the EDF Supplies Chest Opening Ticket. These tickets can be obtained through daily tasks, daily sign-ins, and other events. The EDF Supplies chest contains Fine-quality, Excellent-quality, Outstanding-quality, and S-grade equipment. The chance of obtaining fine-quality equipment is 57.1%, Excellent-quality equipment has a 28.0% chance, Outstanding-quality equipment has a 13.4% chance, and the chance of receiving S-grade equipment is only 1.5%. However, don’t worry, you are guaranteed to receive at least one Outstanding-quality item within ten openings.

(3) Galaxy Hunter Treasure Chest

The Galaxy Hunter Treasure Chest can be opened with 300 Diamonds for a single opening, or 2700 Diamonds for ten openings. It can also be opened using Galaxy Hunter Treasure Chest Coupons, which can be obtained through weekly tasks or events. The Galaxy Hunter Treasure Chest contains Fine Equipment, Excellent Equipment, Outstanding Equipment, and S-Class Equipment. The probability of obtaining Fine Equipment is 57.4%, Excellent Equipment is 30.0%, Outstanding Equipment is 10.6%, and the probability of getting S-Class Equipment is only 2%. However, don’t worry, you are guaranteed to get Outstanding Equipment within ten openings and S-Class Equipment within twenty openings. Therefore, I recommend you save your Diamonds for the Galaxy Hunter Treasure Chest instead of spending them on the Weapon Chest.

3. Unlocking and Upgrading Evolves

Each time you level up, a new tier of evolve will be unlocked. You can use Gold to unlock the corresponding evolve attributes. Unlike equipment, evolving upgrades will remain intact and unchanged. You won’t need to upgrade them again when you switch to new equipment, unlike the way equipment upgrades work.

Sometimes, players may get stuck on a particular level due to insufficient strength. In such cases, we can use Auto Cruise or Fast Cruise to head straight to Endless Trials or Daily Challenges, where we can quickly earn large amounts of experience, gold, components, blueprints, and combat experience. This allows us to upgrade our equipment and evolve.

4. Acquiring Powerful Wingmen

Wingmen are like our loyal companions. They have no health points and share the same fate as our fighter jet — only when our fighter jet is destroyed will the wingman be destroyed as well. Therefore, as long as our fighter jet remains intact, the wingman is invincible.

Equipping five parts of a wingman grants a powerful skill, with the strength of the skill increasing as the level of the wingman parts rises. At level 1, the skill is Elemental Impact, where the wingman fires an elemental wave straight ahead. At higher levels, the skills become progressively stronger: at level 2, the wingman continuously sprays fire ahead with Flame Shot; at level 3, the wingman continuously fires star bullets with Star Strike; at level 4, the wingman sprays fire in all directions with Flaming Thunder; and at level 5, the wingman unleashes a devastating Cluster Bombing attack.

The materials for crafting wingmen are relatively easy to obtain. In the materials production interface, simply select and click the required materials. For every 20 white materials, it takes two and a half hours to craft. However, the wingman blueprints are harder to get and can only be acquired by clearing Endless Trials. Even after clearing, there’s no guarantee of obtaining them, as it’s based on probability. Therefore, be sure to take advantage of daily trials.

5. Obtaining Powerful Aircraft

To strengthen your power, you need to rely on yourself. In addition to using external items to enhance your strength, you can also transform yourself, not only making yourself more powerful but also cooler.

By entering the aircraft interface, you will find that in the current version of DarkStars, there are six different aircraft. Apart from the first free aircraft, the remaining five are increasingly stylish, and each aircraft offers different attributes when upgraded.

However, obtaining these aircraft requires some time investment. First, these aircraft cannot be purchased with Diamonds or Gold. Instead, you can earn points in the Endless Trials and then exchange them in the Endless Trials shop.

There are many ways to earn points in the Endless Trials.

(1) Passing Levels You can only challenge the Endless Trials once per day. Each time, you can clear up to ten waves of attacks. Successfully completing a wave will earn you points. It’s not necessary to pass all ten waves — if you complete even one wave, you will earn points. If you fail to clear any waves, you will not earn any points.

(2) Ranked Rewards The Endless Trials are similar to ranked matches. Every time you complete a trial, you earn one heart. After accumulating five successful trials, you can earn corresponding ranked reward points.
